Does the whole "fewer men than women reproduce" idea have anything to do with the fact that fewer men report arousal from domination than women report arousal from submission?

I mean, if we're strictly talking reproduction and not just sex frequency, I feel like the "many sub-ish women want the few dom-ish men" idea only works for short-term things: one night stands, flings, etc., which *may* have led to kids in the past, but much rarely would now.

No. I imagine that it's more to do with hypergamy and the fact that sexual selection in humans is the prerogative of females. You seem to be suggesting that reproduction is no more than a matter of domination.
