DS9 was socially on POINT for the 1990s. Superstrong female character with realistic flaws? Lesbian kissing played as totally normal? Black main character and they don't ignore the historic meaning of this? Character who is BOTH GENDERS? Morally grey religious terrorism?!?

I am watching it for the first time, currently on S5. I love that Sisko shows Jake a lot of affection, both verbal and physical. And Jake cries more than once, showing that it's ok for a male to have and display emotions.
