a thing that rustles my jimmies is when women engage in consensual, voluntary behavior, and then other people inform them "No, you are being exploited." What, are they children? Can't you respect the choices women make as autonomous humans? Jesus. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018/01/brotopia-silicon-valley-secretive-orgiastic-inner-sanctum …

Something Louis C.K. said in his apology was "...when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn’t a question. It’s a predicament for them." I think maybe you hit the nail on the head when you speak of the pressure to participate in these parties.

I understand your frustration, but I also have a hard time believing that women who work within these companies participating in orgies where identities are known aren't the bosses and aren't being treated the same way the men are, regardless of their positions. :(

I guess a question is whether consent can be coerced, and what defines such coercion?

From my reading I didn't see any point where the article made clear that this is an expected part of working in Silicon Valley. Can you please quote?

Do you think, maybe, that this is an affect of the deeply-embedded toxic culture that the patriarchy and a lack of space for women in tech has created?
-
I totally agree that women can be sexual however they like but this seems unhealthy because its highlights such a clear power and politics structure
