So you're suggesting that when making sweeping value judgments we don't try and group as many people as we can into an amorphous blob based on an arbitrary trait, belief, and/or physical appearance? That's crazy talk! How would we block out our moments of creeping self-doubt?

How is that different from prefacing everything with "some people believe"? Because "some people believe X" does not imply that the truth of X is subjective. *Some* people believe that the earth is flat & 6000 years old. Those people are wrong.

Addendum: It *is* logically possible that there could be two disjoint subcultures within which the respective statements could be true *about that subculture*. It is *not* possible that both statements be true when referring to culture as a whole.
