For nonchristians is it still a norm to talk about the Christian god with capitals? Such as "dear God, I love You" or "praise Him"?

Isn't God supposed to be the actual name of the christian god? I mean, it is a pretty pretentious name, but it is still his name. Shouldn't be different than saying "dear Bob, I love you", right?

I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic schools until I graduated H.S., became agnostic in the 10th grade. I still capitalize God as a proper noun (and his other names), but I don't capitalize the pronoun "him" -- essentially, I afford him the same respect as other myths.

Raised Catholic. Now agnostic. Still capitalize God as a proper noun ("a god" is still lower case)

Nope. I'm an atheist. I say stuff like "My god..." all the time, but do not capitalize it. It's just a saying for me.

As a [insert term to indicate that I don't know what spiritual label to identify as, but recovering Baptist] I generally use God as associated with the JudeoChristian god, and "god" as any generic multitude pantheon being.

I do but more out of respect for my friends and family in that faith than to respect that deity.
