the core concept of science is you're always learning we have a grasp of how the universe works according to physics but we acknowledge that at any point everything we know could be proven wrong thats what makes science great

It depends on what you mean - if you mean "changing the rules we used to know" that is terrifying, because the rules balance relationships to make the world we know, small changes mean no universe. If it means we had something fundamental wrong and now its right, that is exciting.

"expected", sort of. What we know and have confirmed now will always be useful as an approximation of reality even if proven to be technically incorrect. That happens in physics fairly regularly.

We really lucked out that the extremely high energy density destructive devices allowed by physics as we know it require rare materials or methods that are difficult to do discretely and cheaply. If we start over, we might not be so lucky.

Delightful. Any excuse to laugh at the self assured scientismists who seem to think they have THE firm grasp on existence makes me happy. (Not scientists, folks who ascribe to Scientism)
