I feel a bit annoyed when people from one 'side' or the other 'claim me' as a supporter for them. Like, no, all issues are nuanced and just because I happened to support half of a single aspect of your position once doesn't make me 'one of yours'.

I am, ish? but libertarian isn't really a 'side' in the culturewars here.

Like, economically? What economic model do I think would benefit humanity most? I tend to like more 'organic' or 'ground up' type systems that place the most power at the individual level.

Maybe? I'm not sure the details of what that label indicates, but I do think 'free market' stuff is pretty efficient, given money doesn't control lawmaking.

Lol. You keep proving my point.
is quite adept at speaking for herself. You would do better listening to her rather than presuming to speak for her.

I don't mind labels, but they're useful only as long as everyone involved is sure that they have the same conceptions about the label, and if the label isn't prescriptive. Failing these two points is super common and you gotta treat it with caution.

I agree. I think we should agree on what language counts as discreet or concise. I don't give a shit what language we use as long as we're communicating clearly.

Being independent is difficult for people with tribalistic views to comprehend sometimes. Something schools don't stress enough when teaching kids is that life is often more complicated than two simple black and white choices.

If it were that simple, yes. I -- and most of the people I associate with -- don't fit any one label. Based on personal beliefs we can identify with parts of multiple labels. In other words, there is no shorthand identifier for myself and people like me.
