if you had a tampon in your radiator, I'd be worried.

A house radiator? Are you saying you cant regulate the temp?
-
I want to turn it on. There is a red button on the valve but it doesn't seem to compress, and turning knob does nothing

You're supposed to change the tampon, Aella! That could cause toxic shock

You might have to bleed it. Air can get into the system. There is a little knob on the side that is a bleed valve. Open it very slowly
-
With a towel handy to catch the drip, if there is air in the system it will come out. The air can prevent water from circulating.
