Not 'must' - but if both the father and the mother actively want a child, the child tends to go to the mother.

Of course! But that's a patriarchal characteristic: emotions are for the weak ones (women) and therefore if men show them are less of a man

I can't force you to believe it but we live in a patriarchal society which has damaged both genders from the very beginning
