started with thumb, but now i can feel thumb and my ring finger and pinky are numb

Any good doctor is going to ask what were you doing with those fingers before they went numb

Yes be careful particularly if persists. If you have a repetitive action you do try to stop a few days. I had this when I got a big phone

Try to figure out what irritated you wrist/arm/shoulder and try to avoid doing that. Ice and rest wrist and elbow.
