this has happened my whole life. Black people catcall. I am curious about the culture behind this, I don't feel catcalling is bad.

I do think catcalling is bad. I also feel like if there is some kind of proof that this is a thing, we can talk about why that is.

I don't think it's auto bad. I'm curious about why some cultures catcall. I once read women in some cultures view it as positive.

I'm sure some do, and that's fine... But can you see why that statement might have been really offensive?

I don't think offense should get in the way of asking questions. I don't feel any judgment about cultural differences, I'm just curious.

It isn't getting in the way of that. Like I said, unless you have some kind of evidence to support this stereotype, there is no question

If I were on the street with 98% women, and the only 4 people who approached me were men, you wouldn't be asking me for evidence.

Or a number of other factors that could suggest that so many other things could be going on

It's possible that I'm really attractive to black people, yeah! That was one of the explanations I was considering

It's maybe also possible that you are remembering encounters with black people more because of implicit racism

Implicit racism is common. It happens to very good people. Don't let getting offended get in the way of a productive discussion.

Don't feel that way. You may a statement based on experience. Anyone with half a brain should get that. I didn't take it as racist at all

"Implicit Racism" is not an insult, it's a way of talking about a subconscious phenomenon that is dangerous not to address.

Codi nailed it! Racism/colorism has gotten out of control because people are so quick to jump ans play that card. This is a major problem.

Until we as a race (human) can sit down and talk about our color and creeds witjout alwaya getting offended, nothing will ever get solved.

There also will be no cultural understanding and even diminishing cultural curiosity and understanding or a need to want to understand.
