if u go by the 1st def: physical suffering caused by illness or injury, kinda. U can see symptoms of distress. Its a stretch tho

It depends how you define pain -- certain plants, attacked, let out pheromonal "screams"....

....but it is situational as well. No animal wants any part of itself eaten, but some plants depend on parts being eaten.

Fruits, for example, are tasty precisely to attract animals to gobble them up and poop the seeds out later (auto-fertilizing!!)

I suspect it is so with some leaves and grasses, plants long-existing symbiotically with their animal population.

There's no real evidence of any pain response system. They move towards light by photoreceptors. that's as close as it gets.
