Why should a university condone singling out a v. vulnerable student to a crowd predisposed to hate them?

Unis should aim for a v. broad range of speech on campus, but there are still lines, and standards.

This isn't a tough call. Bomb throwing w/ little issue / idea based debate in a v. flammable environment.

He's not entitled to a platform everywhere, or to speak w/o consequence. That's not what free speech is.

It would have been fine for Berkeley to restrict Milo from singling out any students. But not to riot

It's not like Berkeley as an institution was trying to have a riot. They were trying to stop one, & failed

They were probably in a no-win situation by then BC their policies conflicted w/ student values and safety

That's basically Milo's one neat trick. Exploiting liberalism's values & rights to destroy it from within.

Which is his prerogative, but I don't think liberal institutions are obligated to help him build the pyre.
