Do you feel like you have conscious control over your beliefs? As in, could you, right now, decide to believe something else if you tried?

I don't believe I'm able to "believe" anything in any absolute sense. Though I believe I may be wrong about that...

I think that goes against the definition of a belief. I believe things I think are true, I can't choose to believe something

religious (type) beliefs or epistemological beliefs? I'm not really sure my answer would change either way but it's a big detail

I temporarily believed in god and the bible just to see what it felt like. Was surreal.

I have and continue to assess and reassess my judgement and beliefs for the positive.

Lacan/zizek claim that belief is only-ever the claim that someone else believes, not intrinsic qualia. How much control I have over that is.. a great question. For instance, Christianity is the a) belief the flock is supposed to have and b) belief the priest is supposed to have.

I think about this all the time and I just come back to the question, what IS belief? like if I decide to live my life *like* I believe something, doesn't that basically make it a belief of mine?
