In a system with a near ideal government and a single tax rate, what sounds like a reasonable percent to maintain a functioning government?

I think, in theory, a 10% tax rate on every business, person, etc should cover it all. no exceptions, no exemptions

I think it's kind of useless to think about what's reasonable. Figure out what you want government to do first, then budget it.

the biggest taxation issue is those who should be paying the most have the most resources to avoid it.

tricky. People expect the gov to do a lot. What’s ideal? Some sure thought Hillary was going to change their lives. What cost?

Single tax rate would be the problem. An incremental tax rate would be reasonable. Start tax free for everyone's first $20,000.

Russia gets by with a flat 13%. This seems to be enough to invade half the neighbours.

With a single rate, you get what's called a regressive tax, my queen. It would penalize the poor. Consider, 4% of 10K vs. 100K.

As with many who claim to work for good, perhaps they should try to run on donation and see how many agree.
