Unless I could convince them, no. I personally strive for equal, collaborative relationships where all parties are valued

if it's something they truly believe it will continuously haunt & undermine the growth of said relationship in unfortunate ways.

Yes, but I'd hope to change that situation for sure. I wouldn't want them to keep feeling that way
