Hard to say. I know I don't always experience time the same. And not just in the "time flies" cliché. Adrenaline effect, etc.

I'd be surprised if there aren't some scientific papers out there that touch on this.

not sure if animals understand the concept of time. I think they live their lives mostly in the now/present moment.
