yeah... i guess moral obligation depends on distance in this case. 3 feet away vs 3 hours away makes a big difference.

Morality is largely subjective, so one's moral obligations are also subjective and likely weighed against inconvenience / cost.

This all depends on if I was the only one aware of the predicament. Surely someone closer then 3 hours away could save them 1st.
