it bothers me when people complain about polyamory norms in subcultures with "high" (like 30% instead of 4%) levels of polyamory
like oh no your culture is slightly less dominant in this small bubble surrounded by a sea of more of your culture, us poly ppl couldn't understand

It's because they see it as degeneracy.
If you say a culture is 30% degenerate, it does sound like a pretty high number.

I think that's mostly their misdirected anger at the concept of its existence itself. Like it's a bad thing/immoral, so 30% will be very high for them.
