I realllly did not appreciate the degree to which people just lie about other people on the internet and it's just... taken as fact? For example: I often joke about throwing insane parties; I sometimes have joked about playing drug roulette, where ppl get a random drug 1/

Given that you are known to throw weird parties, and that you apparently did talk about the drug party, it really couldn't come as much of a surprise that people believe you threw the drug party. 1/2

iirc i always talked about it like "maybe we should throw a drug roulette party" and "lol how would we do it though, the logistics would be hard." ive never joked about it in a way that indicated i *had* done it before!

i am surprised that ppl are lying about it in the same way i'm surprised when people get very delusional and fixated on me - this is not an easy misunderstanding to have that reasonable ppl would make, its a massive disconnect from reality that is very rare to run into

You're generally unusual enough that it wouldn't be *unbelievable* if you had. When a game of telephone happens, there is normally a built-in sanity check for corruptions too wild to be true, but, well, there's very little "too wild" for how you come across.
