IQ difference of 2 to 3 is not really statistically significant, it'll be almost impossible to find a difference in capacity of people with that small difference.
it is statistically significant given the sample size. it wouldn't be significant on most smaller sample sizes that are more common in academic research though, you might be calibrated on that.
You're right, the sample size does reduce the margin of error. But I think that's more relevant for samples with proper randomness (with little to no bias(High-IQ selection bias you observed)), that can be seen in them maintaining their statistical measures like the mean.
