humanity isn't even a little prepared for AI. we're krill unable to comprehend the whale shaped shadow behind us. caterpillar about to get completely dissolved in a cocoon. the ocean about to evolve cyanobacteria. we're all about to become either dead or unrecognizable.

I read a lot of such doomsday prophesies. As a guy with masters in AI, I'm pretty sure that the more real estimation to the AI conquest is 700 years than 7. You all watch too many scifi movies.

I saw a lot of ppl with AI training get shocked when the recent stuff was released, while people who worked on AI predictions were not at all shocked.

But this recent stuff is only because of we have more CPU and memory. AI models didn't change much in the last two decades. They're more powerful but it's still all pre-learned pattern recognition every time focus on only one task - painting, writing, playing chess, etc. /1

The way current AIs "think" is very different and much more limited than ours. We'd need a lot of scientific breakthroughs to get an AI that would somehow resemble us and could choose to oppose us. And even from there it's a long road to a planned uprising and human extermination
