competitive high school debate does a good job of instilling these principles (partially because violating them can be rhetorically powerful and partially because maintaining them is key to a holistic understanding of a topic)

Random thought: I agree point #3 is a common etiquette in those circles and I think it’s a good rule of thumb, but I wonder, if you’re just opining about something and tossing in an epistemic humility point about being 60% sure or w/e if it comes off as arrogant

The key is 4. I'd add that moral or emotional claims aren't automatically wrong but you have to acknowledge when you are making one. Like saying "freedom is desirable" isn't logical. It's just normative. It shouldn't have to rely on reasons why it works better.
