A smart friend says something confusing. You usually automatically default to:
A) I must be failing to understand this
B) They must be failing to communicate this
burden of understanding ideally flows both ways, when my mind generates the "insufficient data to construct inferential bridge" error, it doesn't assign blame or failure to one party or the other.
It's incumbent upon the communicator to communicate something I can understand, particularly if it's a subject I'm not familiar with in the first place.
Can't answer, no significantly smarter friends.
The one smarter guy I knew through gaming, we never had a failure to communicate, just argued/debated endlessly to some mutual enjoyment.
