It's a much more efficient google/stack overflow. If you're a newbie programmer, part of the issue is you don't know the terms or the landscape of *how* to ask the question; good question asking comes from experience. Without that, chatGPT is awesome.

ditto - i always wanted to make a discord bot that had GPT 3 as part of it - never was able to cause didn't know enough - now with chatGPT ive got a discord bot that can generate images with a command from anyone in the server. W/out GPT wouldn't have been able to.

Also finding it way more time-effective for learning new libraries or coding practices. Like having a personal tutor that just happens to be very familiar with whatever package you're trying to use and is happy to provide instant code snippets and feedback.

Having something that's infinitely patient and willing to explain things using different terms + simple language over and over again is sooooo convenient for learning! Feels like we're in the Early Illustrated Primer Era.

It's incredibly frustrating as an experienced programmer trying to help a novice programmer, and no matter how much patience I try to have I'm sure it leaks out and makes the student feel bad. So I'm really glad AI can fill this role because maybe now I don't ever have to anymore
