my guess is at least some part of it is priming; machine elves is in the cultural waters and thus comes out when you do the dreamlike drug that you're supposed to see machine elves on

That would normally be my guess but it seems like they’ve arisen independently. I suppose if anyone was gonna do some DMT experiments with a control group and publish the results it might be you or Rogan haha
