I think I would really like to have kids, except most ppl with kids seem to have an unhappier life, no free time, much higher stress, and a worse relationship with their partner. That's a scary thing to willingly enter into.
re: many of the comments, I'm more concerned for me specifically compared to most people. I'm pretty aneurotypical, I have an extreme aversion to mundane tasks to the point that my life has suffered from it, I'm highly novelty optimizing, i have sensory issues and kids make noise
like I think maybe I've cooked a meal twice in my life? Because making food is an agonizing experience. Probably if I have kids they will need food, though!
All of the change comes from kids having insanely low standards. I make so many plain quesadillas that take almost no attention/EF from me to make. I'd never do that for myself since the even with the low cost the benefits aren't big enough (I'd rather eat better or not eat).
one non obvious thing abt the process is that it's really slow in a way that lets you learn at roughly the right rate
like solely breastfeeding for ~6mo, then first foods are like just chopping up little fruits, veggies, cheeses etc. like you kind of have years to ease into it
There are lots of ppl with happy, fulfilling lives who opted out of kids. Unless you’re independently wealthy or have other people who will happily do all these tasks for free (or low cost), from what you’re describing, kids might not be the best choice for you, & that’s okay.

My toddlers are pretty simple to cook for though: toast or cereal or scrambled eggs for brekkie, cold lunch, fruit or cheese or nuts for snacks, and dinner can be like...
