I asked ~7k males and ~5k females in relationships if they thought they were "intellectually matched" with their partner. On a -3 (disagree) to 3 (agree) scale, females answered on average 1.73, and males answered 1.22 - about a 0.5 point gap.

was a significant portion of your sample both partners in the couple, and if so, what was the gap in that subgroup

I'd expect this to be the case for women in relationships. I don't think they'd be in one if not.
