Hard to believe even after practicing this for a while that you stop smelling because in NYC you can smell if there is a homeless person on the subway car before entering, and it’s usually empty for that reason. The stench can be extremely pungent.

Presumably you clean your clothes right, which homeless people definitely don’t do (much)
How much time do you spend doing all that? It neutralizes one of the benefits of not showering mentioned in the article. You're not saving too much time.

I don't judge because I too didn't use to shower that much because of depression, and I didn't stink, I was actually clean. But not showering does not help your microbioma, actually it makes it worse. I read some studies about it a while ago. If it's your only reason-

We collect and filter rain water. Nothing better than a nice hot shower after working on the land for the afternoon. Those two years are gloriously well spent.
