the amount of 'but your sample has bias' i get any time i faintly breathe about my data makes me wanna delete twitter. imo most people are wrong about when and why sampling bias is bad, and also assigning unfair scrutiny to me vs other published research because of credentialism

sure, but a lot of the time ppl who take my survey have no idea who I am. the vast majority of ppl who took my kink survey had never heard my name before I'm pretty sure

no, twitter polls are fun toys compared to the research I get paid to do, tho tbf ppl seem to complain about sample bias equally as much. I write about my research on my blog

That’s not really relevant, the amount of people taking those polls that are doing so only because they know you is significant enough to skew your results, and furthermore if people have to seek the poll out on their own it will inherently create bias.
