i am very pro people getting wealthy, compassion for the wealthy, financially fortunate ppl in life have feelings that matter, etc., but every time i hear one of the ppl in my community having a successful parent/went to college i feel a tiny sting of ow, wish that had been me

i don't actually wish i'd gone to college, but there's something about the family that's financially successful enough to be *able to send the kids to college* that hurts to know about. at that age i was laboring overtime in a factory and i think about that with sadness

yeah but like... if i knew i was gonna inherit a house or a few hundred thousand from older relatives one day, my life would feel very different/much more relaxed/i'd be more able to focus on non-sexwork methods of making money

of all my friends, the ones with successful origins are more advanced/cool than the ones without, on average, tho this might be selection effects

Same feeling about what if my parents hadn't been religious, and I'd been able to go to mathcamps. Or if they'd had food other than carbs in their house, my metabolism might not have ended up so wrecked? None of us on Earth are raised in a way that gives our potential a chance.

was it not an option to take loans to go into college? I was in the same boat due to parents being stingy even tho they could afford it, but federal + state loans for 4 years made it possible (possible but not...fun to take on that debt)
