i wonder how much more successful/advanced/cool i'd been if i'd started out with some money to begin with. learning about my friend's more-successful origins. i am genuinely happy for them! but its always a glimpse into the future that could-have-been, a part of me winces

when my gf shares childhood memories, i feel this exact pain and it hurts a lot she had a nice support to follow her dreams, truly happy for her just don’t like to face how many ppl will have to go thro the same shit i’ve been, just to get the same comfort she always had

+1 for working in a factory. I did this during the summer in between school. All of my hometown friends still work in one. I personally love that I had that upbringing. Most people have a horizontal social perspective; having a vertical one gives us a unique perspective

Dilbert called it the missing line on the CV: lawyer, banker, millionaire parent or related to someone. Can relate. Lived in an apartment with only a bed-mattress and no phone in high school. No money, no clean clothes, no friends. I came out ahead but took 30 years of pain.
