Also curious what sample size u guys would intuitively guess is good, given the questions in this. I'm aiming for around 5k, but I'm suspecting I might need more than that in order to get enough data from e.g. ppl with longer relationships

the size isn’t the issue, the issue is going to be representativeness. it will be representative of people who see and take surveys you make, which is only a representative sample of precisely that group

this is wrong, sorry. or rather it’s a straw man: the issue isn’t that you need total randomness, it’s that the sample you’re going to get is going to be wildly self-selecting and I doubt you’re even doing the limited adjustments you could do with that kind of data set

I mean it’s whatever, you get the data you get for fun, but I work in psychological research and you are not getting “useful” data in the general sense of that term. perhaps useful to you!, which is fine as far as it goes

I don't think the self selecting will be a big enough issue here, at least not bigger than what I can track and account for. lots of ppl dismiss my surveys for self selection and I don't find this persuasive at all

I mean this kindly: that’s because you don’t really understand what you’re doing. You’ve reached the level of knowledge where your confidence vastly exceeds your skill. That’s fine! Keep at it.
