This is the cognitive approach, the other more “embodied approach” is akin to diving into the feeling & riding the wave to its conclusion. Almost like you were downloading a new experience & the intensity of the trauma overloaded the system - you can then dive back in & finish

e.g. in allowing yourself to feel it fully, it runs its natural course & you realize you have the capacity to endure it. Which shifts you from victim to empowered. I’m more inclined toward finding useful cognitive framing, but the approaches hit different
