i don't like hugs, every time i greet a friend there's a mild panic as i prepare for them to hug me. my close friends tend to avoid hugging me cause they know i don't like it
but i'd still dislike a world where ppl asked me for consent to hug

like, id rather a world where people perform a small ritual that makes me uncomfortable over one where it becomes A Thing each time. asking me if i would like a hug is way worse than just straight up hugging me

this is something ive noticed improving in my local dance community post-covid "are we hugging?" "hugs ok?" and more high 5s at the end of a dance. Warms the cold dead cockles of my heart <3

I'm pro hugs. Grew up in a family that was mouth kissers. I've never gotten over that. No kisses, hugs is enough or a dab

I’ve a theory as to why I also share your phobia of hugs. Perhaps it’s a defense mechanism. It appears I prefer avoiding an embrace from anyone who may possess the capacity to hurt me emotionally. In my case, it likely stems from a sustained betrayal of trust by parental figure.
