In Vietnam the internal culture is strongly pro-white. I've had friends whose grandmother would say "why are you so dirty? Use more bleaching lotion". So actually, in my limited experience, westerners/white folks cared less than their own culture did.

That's not how it works. Attractiveness is irreducible to isolated details. There are very beautiful tan women who would not look better if they were pale and very beautiful pale women who would not look better if they were tan.

If I have a preference, it's buried beneath so much of social desirability bias that it's not worth digging up.

I’m curious if skin tone has much of an impact on most people’s attraction. I usually think of racial preferences for attraction as having more to do with body type and facial features.
