Mild but annoyingly persistent cough, coming from a tickle in what I think is the back of the soft palate. cough drops, tea, honey, getting real hydrated, mucinex, neti pot and Alka seltzer (cold night) all don't help at all. I cannot sleep like this, any other tips to try?

cough syrup. drug side effects can be awful but you will get the sleep you need for your body to fight. i have to do this twice a year for the same issue
During the day you should mostly just use Guaifenesin immediate release (expectorant) alone without needing cough suppress

I've never tried that, but it sounds pleasant. Is there a brand you would recommend?

Simple Saline Nasal Mist from arm and hammer has the best applicator nozzle to get the saline mist up into your nasal cavity, and helps dry mucus and sooth the tickle. Easy to grab from the bed stand in the night and re-up.
