I knew psychopaths existed but didn't quite _believe_ in a felt sense that you can lack empathy / manipulate intentionally and operate fairly normally in society until I encountered someone like this firsthand and it broke my personal models

Perks of growing up around someone w a personality disorder is learning how many well intentioned people when directly faced with evidence of these disorders are unable to mentally model the possibility of someone who doesn’t operate under the constraints of normal empathy& guilt
