Personally, I don't care much. I do drink beer and stuff, but I rarely get significantly drunk for this to really have an impact. It can be an easy ice breaker to have a conversation over a couple of beers, but that's more of a cultural thing rather than alcohol in itself.

I reckon I'd have had more problems acquiring a social life without alcohol, and the fun memories easily outweigh the bad ones. Prob different for other people.

Hard to say. It has helped me socialize but I can't predict what alternatives people would choose and how that would affect me.
