Yeah there's a sense in which this question is a bit like asking "being trans: good or bad?" (see Aella on poly as an orientation)
The pressure to be mono or the pressure to be poly in various cultures is probably bad, but maybe it's good for the option to exist and be known
I don't know if I fully agree with this completely morally neutral take. From a consequentialist perspective, maybe it's "bad" bc its existence in the culture as an option tempts many people who would be better off mono.
but I'm glad that some people who *need* poly can be poly
What are the temptations of mono?
From the perspective of a mono person it sometimes feels like there would be no downside to being naturally poly-oriented, in the very specific sense of "man it would be nice not to feel scarcity and jealousy, maybe I can train myself out of it"
