If you're not vegan, I'm not gonna take you seriously when you say bestiality is "wrong because the animals can't consent". We don't care about animal consent in so many ways, and if u aren't pointing it out when ppl eat meat then dont wanna hear u pointing it out with bestiality

Shoehorning sexual morality into a framework that *only* considers consent issues is a relatively new thing People still have tons of moral intuitions about sex that go beyond whether a particular interaction is consensual

Separately, lots of people think it is OK to slaughter animals for food but not to abuse them beforehand — the two aren't equivalent "But what if people get a lot of fun from abusing them?" isn't likely to change almost anyone's mind on that

While I completely agree with your take, tbf to Aella, she's not arguing for bestiality, she's arguing against using the consent framework re: sex w/ animals b/c it's not coherent.

yeah, there's other reasons u could use to argue against bestiality, but I'm specifically addressing the consent one, which people throw at me a lot. The consent framework is deeply flawed.
