FB has started poppin in my circles, with all the action being in private FB groups. Ppl will make a private group for stuff about them, and then u can join if you wanna hear ramblings/updates/photos from their life. It's like a second, nested FB profile.

In my circles Discord is the new private groups. And they're not necessarily gamers

So, defining and upkeeping your own group-setting lacks method for opt-in for audience to join/read/leave how they like. Polite, and easier just to post personal stuff to chat window and never worry about having wrong setting on - yea, I can see why this works.
