based on looking at my data, i suspect nearly all the stories we have for what causes fetishes are completely made-up, our personal narratives we construct about why we must like what we like are probably post-rationalizations after the fact

yeah, there are probably dozens experiences from my childhood/youth that plausibly could have planted the seeds for some specific fetish ("oh yeah there was that birthday party with all the balloons...") other than the one i actually ended up with
