how i shower infrequently but don't stink: my guess is there's some kind of microbiome balance going on; I first noticed this once when I went camping, and then after I got home and showered with heavy duty soap, found that I stunk *way* worse the next day. 1/

i wouldn't be surprised if showering is following the same kind of principles as going no-poo for hair; if any random person who shampoos daily, stops shampooing, their hair will be horrible and greasy. But if you are persistent and careful, your body adjusts. 2/

but this isn't perfect, and different ppl have different kinds of bodies, with different activities and sweat levels. I *do* still do maintenance to handle getting stinky in between showers! 3/

I am careful not to use soap on my armpits, because that seems to increase the smell; I usually scrub hard with a wet washcloth, and then put on deodorant, and this works great. I also use a bidet, and wash my genitals often. 4/

I find my scalp tends to get stinky if I sweat but don't have a way to air out my hair immediately afterwards. So after exercise, I loosen up my hair and scritch the scalp a lot to get airflow. Times I don't do this, I get really stinky. 5/

I don't use any body moisturizer. I live in a humid area so this helps, but also I don't like having products to build up. I do wash my face and brush my teeth daily, wash my sheets 2x a month, do mostly normal hygeine otherwise.

(also I should in fact clarify, I know I'm saying not stinky but as i said in my other thread I do suspect I'm a bit stinkier than average, at least sometimes, because I'm sometimes just outright lazy in doing the maintenance required. but if I try I can combat this showerlessly)

Ok these replies are madness, you wash all the areas that are susceptible to smell. Are they ppl worried they get like smelly.. arms? if they don’t shower? This is not a thing
