i'm pro-abortion but the results to many (not all!) of these questions make me think we don't *actually* view fetuses as just part of a woman's body.

i think the premise of that argument is that if you don't want a fetus attached to your uterus, it's your prerogative to have it removed from your uterus the pro-choice argument does not rely on a fetus being considered a part of its mothers body

i don't think so? like, the argument also really hinges on the fetus just being a cluster of cells, not conscious, etc.; pro-choice ppl generally do not support late-term abortions, which sorta contradicts your quoted premise

Judith Thomson argues for pro-choice on grounds of the woman's bodily autonomy even assuming that the fetus is a morally significant person: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Defense I find this argument compelling at least for pre-viability abortions.

Shill is right. I’m sure many people misunderstand this and think that the argument is the other thing. But the sophisticated version is that you get to choose to be not-pregnant. And that currently has the side effect of killing another human. (tho prob not person)

I'd support inducing birth or doing a caesarian later in the pregnancy if the mother doesn't want to be pregnant for eg mental health reasons. Seems reasonable to say the mother can choose to end the pregnancy, but not to do so by killing the foetus if it can survive on its own.
