there's a perceived tension between "autistics are legally disabled, there are many things that are harder for us than they are for the median person" and "dont infantilize autistics, we're just as agentic as anyone else," it's tricky for most people to hold both these ideas
the other day SNL made a joke about elon's social skills
in a sense you're punching up, i guess, bc he has more money than you
but you're also punching down at autistics as a group
little sad i didnt see the activists rise up here
one of my favorite ironic moments was the time i accidentally pissed off the twitter autist community and they all descended on me angry that id violated their unspoken social norms and didnt care that im also on the spectrum
the way i pissed them off was i made a long poll thread about whether ppl would push a button to prevent people from X group (with the groups rotated out) from being born, and were they in that group/not in that group?
The autist one went viral in autist circles
