Why all this talk of no-self, killing the self, ego death? Why not “the self is like a cloud in the sky or a whirlpool in the water – kinda a ‘thing’ but impermanent, contextual, and with hazy boundaries” Feels gentler and…more accurate? It’s not like the self fully disappears

I've found such a framing in rob burbea's work. It's a chef's kiss when you combine anatta (emptiness of self & phenomena) *and* metta (loving kindness) practice.
