I don't want a world where people are expected to be unselfish, I want a world where being unselfish is in your best interests. Do system-wide incentives correctly and we won't have to resort to these religious-esque pressures!

That is what socialists are trying to do, but you’re a libertarian. Under an every man for themselves capitalist system, selfishness is incentivized. Any unselfishness is a risk to yourself.

Selfishness *should* be incentivized! Actual efficient selfishness looks a lot like helping others, cause the better a civilization is, the better the quality of life for the individual.

That contradicts the first rule of economics.
Do you want to get involved in politics?

How do you make "system-wide incentives" against the human nature of some people?

I want a world where we acknowledge people are self interested (not to be confused with selfish), and provide a system that channels this self interest into endeavors that benefit everyone (but not necessarily equally).

So, one where we reward people being selfless with praise, and scold them if they are being selfish?
