open air markets where ppl set up booths is horrible. it's hard to look at items in the booths without getting close enough for the ppl behind them to start talking to you. if they start talking to someone else then it's safe to dart in but u gotta be ready to dart back out

Well, marketplaces are historically the usual place for socialisation. I guess it still carried over. Also, better chances to sell if you engage the customer :)
