i often feel like changing the world requires two types of people - the careful people who do networking and bureaucracy good and avoid controversy and raise funding, and the loud people who tumble deep into the woods and scream IT'S COOL OVER HERE GUYS I PROMISE we need both!

the overton window is a distant memory for me as i permanently destroy my ability to e.g. run for office. this is good! Also my friends in the former category are important and essential too! If we *only* had ppl like me screaming out of the woods we'd be doomed.

If we *only* had the second type the first type wouldn't be needed... the task of convincing normies to go along with you isn't really that important if there are no normies (who are merely a much weaker version of the first type of person) to convince.

Overton? There’s an Overton park in Memphis. Was a famous environmental case long ago. Stopped govt from building a freeway thru it.

There is a third type but are often overlooked. People seem to collectively celebrate their honest charactor, and quiet lead by example personality. People are easily distracted by the other two and forget about the third.
